Prof John Hudson

John is Professor of Social Policy at the University of York, where he is also Academic Director for the university’s policy engagement unit, The York Policy Engine. John hails from Sunderland originally but has lived just down the road in York since 1998. He is a co-investigator for the programme, co-leads the programme’s policy engagement activity with Sophie Howes and Tom Lee and co-leads the ‘social security and devolution futures’ with Sophie Howes. He has worked on a wide range of projects in the field of social policy, with particular interests in the politics of welfare, public spending on social protection and public attitudes to the welfare state.
