Sophie Howes is the Head of Policy at Child Poverty Action Group. She grew up in the Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire, and now lives in Margate, Kent, with her partner and daughter. Sophie leads CPAG’s policy work, including acting as policy engagement partners on this project as well as a number of other academic projects. CPAG’s role is focused on bringing this research evidence to decision makers to try and ensure policies adopted by various governments are informed by the evidence of what works (and what doesn’t). Prior to working at CPAG, Sophie worked in a number of frontline roles in domestic violence services and the mental health sector before making the jump to the policy world, with the hope of changing things at a more systemic level.
